La Cañada Flintridge residents leaned Republican in Tuesday's general election, supporting GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romey and Republicans running for the U.S. Senate and State Assembly.
Of La Cañada’s 14,360 registered voters, 8,408 cast their ballots on Tuesday, a 59% turnout, according to preliminary figures from the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder. A full tally of votes may not be complete until early next month.
President Barack Obama received 3,629 of the local vote compared to 4,523 for Romney. Libertarian Gary Johnson was the highest vote getter of the third-party candidates, with 76.
Although Republican Greg Krikorian lost to Democrat Mike Gatto for the 41st Assembly District, La Cañadans voted in his favor 4,596 to 3,235.
La Cañada residents narrowly supported Democrat Adam Schiff in his reelection to the House of Representatives and Democrat Carol Liu in her reelection to the state Senate. Schiff received 4,150 votes locally versus 3,765 for Republican Phil Jennerjahn, and Liu grabbed 4,012 votes versus 3,982 for Republican Gilbert Gonzales.
